NVIDIA is set to open its first research and development center in Vietnam, enhancing the country’s AI sector and fostering innovation in collaboration with the government.

NVIDIA is making a significant leap in its global AI strategy by establishing its first research and development (R&D) center in Vietnam, according to NVIDIA Newsroom. This move underscores the company’s confidence in Vietnam’s burgeoning artificial intelligence (AI) landscape.

Strategic Collaboration with Vietnamese Government

NVIDIA is working closely with the Vietnamese government to set up the new R&D center, which will primarily focus on software development. The center aims to leverage the country’s rich pool of STEM talent and foster collaboration with industry leaders, startups, and academic institutions to accelerate AI adoption. This initiative aligns with Vietnam’s national strategy to enhance its digital transformation and position the country as a regional leader in AI research and development.

Supporting Vietnam’s Growing AI Ecosystem

The R&D center is expected to serve as a hub for innovation, providing platforms for researchers and startups to develop AI applications targeted at key sectors such as healthcare, education, transportation, and finance. Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, expressed excitement about the new venture, emphasizing the company’s commitment to partnering with Vietnam’s vibrant ecosystem to drive AI advancements.

Vietnam’s Rapid Economic and Technological Growth

Vietnam is currently experiencing rapid growth in several industries, including technology, automotive, electronics, and textiles, making it one of the fastest-growing economies globally. The country’s AI market has similarly been expanding, supported by technological advancements and government initiatives aimed at fostering innovation and building a robust AI ecosystem.

NVIDIA’s Continued Investment in Vietnam

For over eight years, NVIDIA has been actively investing in Vietnam’s technology sector. The company is engaged with more than 100 Vietnamese AI startups through its Inception program and collaborates with 65 universities in the country. Last year, NVIDIA partnered with FPT Smart Cloud, marking its first collaboration with a Vietnamese cloud service provider.

Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highlighted the strategic partnership’s potential to promote AI technology development in Vietnam and enhance the innovation ecosystem across Southeast Asia.
