- CZ denies acting as a fixer for World Liberty Financial.
- Binance founder slams WSJ for publishing biased, inaccurate claims.
- CZ says he never arranged foreign meetings or introductions for WLF.
Changpeng Zhao, also known as CZ, the founder of Binance, has responded strongly to an article published by The Wall Street Journal. The article suggested that CZ acted as a “fixer” for World Liberty Financial during their foreign travels. CZ claimed that the article attacked him with wrong and biased statements. Further, he thinks WSJ failed at journalism and simply chose to be biased.
CZ Rejects Accusations of Arranging Foreign Deals for WLF
As CZ responded on his official X account with a long post, the WSJ was in contact by sending a long list of questions through Binance’s public relations team. He pointed out that much of what was being questioned was built on faulty facts and bad opinions. The WSJ was told by his team that the questions had lots of errors and baseless claims. However, the article managed to be released in this way. CZ pointed out that when a fiction agent breaks the rules, everything in the story must be checked. The whole story is what needs addressing.
One important thing the WSJ article brought up was that CZ supported World Liberty Financial in introducing officials to representatives of other countries. It was reported in the news that CZ was involved in organizing meetings and helping the team sign international deals. Reportedly, a meeting held in Pakistan resulted in a memorandum of understanding. CZ flatly denied all the accusations made against it. He said he does not try to help anyone and never coordinated any discussions or meetings with WLF.
CZ pointed to an announcement made by Pakistani officials regarding Mr. Saqib. As the WSJ explains, CZ recommended Mr. Saqib to the WLF and it was not long before he was listed as an adviser by the organization. Mr. Saqib and WLF had already known one another before this confrontation, according to CZ. During his visit to Pakistan, he met Mr. Saqib for the first time. He explained that he did not take part in any meetings or introduce himself to others.
CZ Accuses WSJ of Using Cunningham’s Law Tactics Unethically
CZ also criticized WSJ for using what is known as Cunningham’s Law. This idea means that people can get the right answer on the internet by first posting the wrong one. He pointed out that this is not what good journalism looks like. He thinks WSJ was determined to back wrong stories for the sake of making people react.
CZ also noted that some bigger players in the United States want to impede the advancement of cryptocurrencies. He thinks certain groups aim to keep the US from leading in digital finance. In his opinion, these organizations are relying on the WSJ to target crypto and people connected to it.
Last but not least, CZ strongly refuted the claims from WSJ. He said he is not a fixer and did not assist WLF in building any foreign networks. He urged women and men to use caution when accepting whatever they see in print. It reveals that traditional media and cryptocurrency leaders are often at odds.
