RGB, which recently released version 0.11.1 on mainnet, is designed to enable private and scalable issuance of assets on Bitcoin.
The protocol allows users to create and transfer digital assets while retaining control over their data.
According to Tether, integrating USD₮ with RGB will make it possible for the stablecoin to be transacted directly on Bitcoin, potentially enabling faster and more private payments.
The company stated that the integration will allow users to manage both Bitcoin and USD₮ within the same wallet, and that the protocol supports features such as private transactions and offline transfers.
Tether described this as a step toward supporting stablecoins natively within the Bitcoin ecosystem.
“Bitcoin deserves a stablecoin that feels truly native, lightweight, private, and scalable,” said Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether.
“With RGB, USD₮ gains a powerful new pathway on Bitcoin, reinforcing our belief in Bitcoin as the foundation of a freer financial future.”
Tether said the launch reflects its ongoing efforts to broaden the use of stablecoins and to support Bitcoin-based financial applications.
