181,160 Americans Warned After Major Cybersecurity Breach Hits Healthcare Firm, Placing Trove of Sensitive Data at Risk – The Daily Hodl

The personal information of thousands of US citizens is now at risk after a healthcare firm suffered a security breach.

According to new data from The Office of the Maine Attorney General, healthcare services firm NAHGA Claim Services has suffered a cybersecurity hack, potentially exposing the personal information of 181,160 Americans.

According to a press release, some of the potentially stolen information includes names, social security numbers, home and email addresses, health records, dates of birth, and driver’s licence information of patients.

Though nothing was directly reported stolen, the bad actor who hacked the firm had access to the information and could have downloaded it.

In Maine, 414 Maine residents are affected by the hack.

The breach happened in April of this year and was discovered on November 14th. However, customers of the firm were not informed of the hack until December 5th.

In response to this incident, NAHGA says it has bolstered its cybersecurity protocols to greatly reduce the chances of such an attack ever happening again, notified the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and established a call center to answer the questions of anyone involved.
