Beeple Drops Wild 2140 Michael Saylor Art – U.Today

Legendary digital artist Mike Winkelmann, better known as Beeple, has published a piece of dystopian artwork that immortalizes Strategy Executive Chairman Michael Saylor and trolls his Bitcoin master plan.

The artwork, simply captioned “MICAHEL SAYLOR BUYING THE LAST BITCOIN IN 2140,” visualizes Saylor’s recently stated ambition to relentlessly accumulate the flagship cryptocurrency until the network stops producing new coins.

A dystopian vision

The artwork made by the artist behind the NFT bonanza features a hyper-surreal, grimy, and dystopian aesthetic that Beeple is known for.

Bitcoin has a hard-capped maximum supply of 21 million coins, and the block reward halves every four years. The final fraction of a Bitcoin is not projected to be mined until roughly the year 2140.

Beeple’s inspiration for the bizarre piece likely stems from a recent CNBC interview where Saylor explicitly stated that the company will keep buying BTC until 2140. “Our company will probably buy all of the Bitcoin that gets produced by the miners between here and the year 2140. Then there’s no more Bitcoin.”
