With the soccer World Cup set to kick off next month, prediction market Myriad is launching a trading competition in collaboration with Layer-1 blockchain D.Energy, with $100,000 up for grabs.
“We’re thrilled to be running this contest during the World Cup,” said Myriad Co-Founder and President Farokh Sarmad. “With billions of viewers tuning in to the tournament from around the world, this is a great opportunity to showcase how prediction markets work around sports tournaments on a global stage.”
With over 75 multi-binary markets at launch, the FIFA World Cup 2026 Prediction Contest enables Myriad users to make predictions on every single match in the competition. A prize pool of $100,000 is on offer for top traders and makers.
The top three traders receive $20,000, $10,000 and $5,000 respectively, with the remaining $10,000 split among the rest of the leaderboard, which runs to the end of the contest.
Top makers draw on a weekly pool of $5,000 a week in maker volume rewards for the entire duration of the contest, with the leaderboard reset each week.
The competition builds on Myriad’s recent collaborations with Chainlink, whose oracles provide market resolution, and 55 Tech, its new tech partner for real-time sports data.
Earlier this year, Myriad closed a “milestone” seed investment round, laying the groundwork for the prediction market to “invest aggressively in product development, liquidity, and market expansion,” said CEO Loxley Fernandes.
The World Cup is widely regarded as the biggest sporting event in the world, with around 1.5 billion global viewers tuned in to the last World Cup final in Qatar, according to FIFA. This year’s event kicks off on June 11 with South Africa facing World Cup hosts Mexico. South Africa go into the match as the underdogs, with Myriad users putting just a 13% chance on them emerging triumphant.
