Kraken has become the Official Crypto Exchange Supporter of the FIFA World Cup 2026, the exchange announced on Tuesday. The deal puts one of crypto’s oldest platforms in front of the tournament’s projected six billion viewers.

The 48-team tournament kicks off June 11 across 16 host cities in Canada, Mexico, and the US. Yet a flood of resale tickets is clouding the buildup.

Kraken Puts Crypto on the FIFA World Cup 2026 Stage

The partnership aims to raise crypto awareness and drive adoption among football fans across North America and Europe.

Kraken plans fan activations, product experiences, and crypto education throughout the seven-week event, starting with a multi-city Countdown Concert on June 10.

However, no crypto firm appears on the official FIFA sponsor roster for 2026. Supporter-level deals remain the industry’s main route into the tournament.

Meanwhile, regulators are paying attention. The UK’s Financial Conduct Authority issued a crypto sponsorship warning to teams days before kickoff.

Kraken Co-CEO Arjun Sethi framed the deal as a bid for open financial access in the announcement.

“Football has always crossed borders. So does crypto. For most of history, the best markets were open only to the few. The FIFA World Cup 2026 is where we show everyone else what they’ve been missing: an open, borderless financial system that anyone can join with a phone in their pocket.”

Almost 180,000 tickets have reportedly hit the resale market days before the opening match.

Median prices on FIFA’s resale platform fell roughly 20% over the past month. Some group-stage seats now list below face value.

Critics blame FIFA’s pricing strategy, with face values far above those of Qatar 2022. Attorneys general in New York and New Jersey are probing the pricing practices.

For supporters like Kraken, empty sections matter. The deal’s value rests on packed stadiums and the broadcast reach they create.

Visible gaps in the stands would shrink the audience Kraken is paying to stand before.

A Wider Sports Marketing Push

The FIFA deal builds on existing partnerships with Tottenham Hotspur, Atlético de Madrid, RB Leipzig, and Williams Racing.

Kraken also works with football personalities Fabrizio Romano and Lukas Podolski.

The move fits a wider sports sponsorship revival across the crypto industry.

It also lands as Kraken pursues a public listing after it confirmed its IPO filing at a $13.3 billion valuation.

Exposure on this scale is rare for a single exchange. The next seven weeks will show whether World Cup audiences convert into new crypto users.
