JPMorgan Chase Allegedly Refuses to Reimburse Customer After Thief Launches ,500 Spending Spree on Uber: Report – The Daily Hodl

JPMorgan Chase is accused of refusing to stand by a customer after a thief launched an alleged $1,500 unauthorized spending spree on Uber.

A post shot to the top of the r/Chase community forum on Reddit this week as a woman said someone stole her debit card information and spent about $1,500 in 40 transactions.

The woman, named Alejandra, says Chase denied her claim despite clear evidence that the transactions were not authorized.

“I have my card in my possession and my Uber account itself shows no charges. Chase is claiming that my physical card was used and PIN (which makes no sense bc you don’t have to put a PIN in to make any online transaction) so, they denied my claim…

I was so surprised they didn’t flag it until I checked my account, especially considering it’s so much on just one app/product.”

Alejandra says she rarely uses her debit card, which is why she didn’t see the charges until about a week after they hit her account.

In response, the Reddit community said she should file a fraud case with the bank instead of a dispute, since it appears someone has stolen her debit card and pin number.

Fellow banking customers also recommend she file a case with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and turn on alerts to be notified of each and every transaction on her account.

Chase and other large US banks have witnessed a surge in complaints about fraud and account closures this year.

In November, nearly 200 former Chase customers sent complaints to the New York Times stating their accounts were wrongfully terminated, triggering financial chaos and confusion.

And back in May, attorneys general in 19 states sent a letter to the bank’s CEO Jamie Dimon, stating that the financial giant has violated its own policies on equality when shuttering accounts.
