Apple Preparing for Annual Launch Event, iPhone 15 Is Expected to Be Introduced
Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL) is getting ready for its annual launch event set to take place in Cupertino, California, on September 12. The company is sending invitations for the event, while the community is discussing the upcoming devices – iPhone 15 and a new Apple Watch Series 9.
The launch event will be streamed on Apple’s website at 1 p.m.
Following the announcement, Apple saw its stock going up and moving away from its 100-day fluctuating average of $179.43. So far, the record price of Apple shares for this year was $198.19 on July 19. Yesterday, Apple stock closed the trading session 2.18% up, at $184.12, and added another 0.23% in the after-hours trade. Apple’s market cap has reached $2.82 trillion. Year-to-date, Apple shares are 41.71% up.
Annual Launch Event: iPhone 15 and Apple Watch Series 9
The rumours surrounding new Apple products are numerous, as the community is anticipating multiple updates and improvements.
Firstly, on September 12, we will see a new iPhone 15 series that will include the 6.1-inch iPhone 15, the 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Plus, the 6.1-inch iPhone 15 Pro, and the 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Pro Max. We can expect all the models to have a USB-C port instead of a Lightning port, transit from the notch to the Dynamic Island, as well as integrate an updated 5G chip from Qualcomm.
Secondly, while the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will be using the same A16 chip as in the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will integrate an upgraded 3-nanometer A17 chip which allows better speed, increased efficiency, and longer battery life.
Speaking of the design, the iPhone 15 Pro models are expected to be thinner, with curved bezels and a new titanium material for the chassis that will replace the stainless steel. Besides, Apple will redesign the “mute” button that might also serve as an Action button similar to the Action button on the Apple Watch Ultra. The so-called Action button will replace the current mute switch, but it will be able to perform far more functions than just mute the iPhone. Rumors suggest that users will be able to set multiple functions, from turning on the flashlight to activating shortcuts.
The pricing of the new iPhone models is expected to start at the same level as the iPhone 14 series: beginning from $799 for the iPhone 15, starting from $899 for the iPhone 15 Plus, starting from $1,099 for the iPhone 15 Pro, and $1,299 and above for the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Another device expected to be revealed at the launch event is the Apple Watch Series 9. Rumours suggest that the device will feature an S9 chip that’s built on the same technology as the A15 chip. As a result of the chip integration, the Apple Watch Series 9 will be faster and more efficient, with its battery running longer. The company is also most probably planning to add pink colour to the existing design line and a number of new bands.
