Metaplanet has officially joined the ranks of top corporate Bitcoin holders, reaching a milestone of 10,000 Bitcoin following its latest acquisition of 1,112 Bitcoin for 16.88 billion yen (around $117 million).

This puts the Tokyo-based firm ahead of Coinbase, which currently holds 9,267 Bitcoin.
The average cost basis of Metaplanet’s holdings now sits at approximately 13.9 million yen, or $96,400 per coin.
This marks a significant leap just two weeks after Metaplanet entered the top eight list of publicly traded companies with the largest Bitcoin reserves. The firm has now climbed to seventh place.
The purchase coincided with the announcement of a new zero-interest bond issuance valued at $210 million, which the company intends to use entirely for additional Bitcoin acquisitions.

Metaplanet has dramatically reshaped its corporate strategy to focus on Bitcoin, with a target of acquiring 210,000 Bitcoin by the end of 2027.
Having reached 10,000 Bitcoin, the company aims to secure another 200,000 Bitcoin within the next year and a half.
Following these updates, shares of Metaplanet (3350T) surged by over 22% on Monday, hitting a high of 1,860 yen. The stock has now gained more than 417% since the beginning of 2025.
