Microsoft, NVIDIA, and Anthropic announce strategic partnerships to scale AI models on Azure, enhance NVIDIA architectures, and expand Claude’s capabilities across cloud services.
In a significant development for the artificial intelligence sector, Microsoft, NVIDIA, and Anthropic have unveiled a series of strategic partnerships aimed at advancing AI capabilities and infrastructure. These collaborations were announced on November 18, 2025, marking a pivotal moment for the involved companies.
Anthropic to Scale AI on Azure
Anthropic, an AI safety and research company, is set to expand the deployment of its Claude AI model on Microsoft Azure. This initiative, powered by NVIDIA technology, aims to provide Azure enterprise customers with broader access and enhanced capabilities. As part of this expansion, Anthropic has committed to purchasing $30 billion in Azure compute capacity, with the potential to contract up to one gigawatt of additional compute resources.
NVIDIA and Anthropic’s Deep Technology Partnership
For the first time, NVIDIA and Anthropic are forming a deep technology partnership. This collaboration will focus on optimizing Anthropic’s models for performance and efficiency while aligning future NVIDIA architectures with Anthropic’s workloads. The initial compute commitment includes up to one gigawatt of capacity using NVIDIA Grace Blackwell and Vera Rubin systems.
Expanding Access to Claude
Microsoft and Anthropic are extending their existing partnership to offer broader access to the Claude AI models for businesses. Microsoft Foundry customers will have access to advanced Claude models such as Claude Sonnet 4.5, Claude Opus 4.1, and Claude Haiku 4.5. This makes Claude the only frontier AI model available across the leading global cloud services, enhancing model choice and capabilities for Azure customers.
Moreover, Microsoft is committed to integrating Claude across its Copilot suite, including GitHub Copilot, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and Copilot Studio, ensuring a seamless AI experience for users.
Investment Commitments
As part of the strategic alignment, NVIDIA and Microsoft have pledged significant investments in Anthropic, with NVIDIA committing up to $10 billion and Microsoft up to $5 billion. These investments are expected to bolster Anthropic’s growth and innovation in AI research and development.
The announcement was made jointly by Anthropic co-founder and CEO Dario Amodei, Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella, and NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang. Despite these new partnerships, Amazon continues to serve as Anthropic’s primary cloud provider and training partner.
This multifaceted collaboration signals a robust future for AI development, leveraging the strengths of Microsoft, NVIDIA, and Anthropic to drive innovation and expand AI accessibility globally.
