New York: Mayor Eric Adams invites companies to create a crypto empire

The mayor of New York, Eric Adams, has made a call to companies to create a crypto empire in the society of the USA. While he is running for his reelection, Adams has reiterated his commitment to the cryptocurrency sector.

New York and Mayor Eric Adams: the city as a crypto empire

In an interview, the mayor of New York, Eric Adams, invited companies to establish themselves in the US city with the goal of creating a crypto empire together.

“We are in the midst of a true technological revolution. It is not the future, it is here and it is here now. [..] This is the Empire State. We should be eager to build empires, especially in the cryptocurrency space”

Adams reiterated his commitment to making New York a hub for cryptocurrencies, publicly telling journalists that he will work closely with tech and crypto companies.

For this reason, the current mayor, who is running for re-election, has asked crypto companies that are returning to the United States or that are expanding their presence in the country, to establish themselves in New York.

While the primaries are in June, the general vote to elect the new mayor of New York will take place exactly next November 2025.

In the meantime, Adams will host the first Crypto Summit of New York City next week, to discuss the mutual benefits between the city and the cryptocurrency industry.

New York: Mayor Eric Adams is inspired by Trump to create the crypto empire in his city

What Adams is declaring to the journalists seems to echo something already heard at the national level, from the current President of the USA Donald Trump.

In fact, while Trump had repeatedly stated his desire to make the USA the “crypto capital of the planet,” Adams is now stating it about New York City.

Not only that, even the Crypto Summit in New York City was announced by Adams as the event “in the wake of the White House Digital Asset Summit in March.”

In any case, here is how the mayor of New York follows in his interview with the journalists:

“We will attract world-class talents, offer opportunities to under-the-table communities, and make the government easier to use. We are focused on the long-term values of these technologies for our city and its inhabitants, without chasing memes or trends.”

The salary in Bitcoin

That the current mayor of New York is pro-crypto is not news. In fact, already in 2021 when he was elected with an overwhelming majority, Adams had explicitly stated that he was in favor of Bitcoin.

Not only that, in that year, Adams already had the intention of transforming New York into a center for Bitcoin.

In this regard, in November 2021, in response to the post on X by the mayor of Miami, Francis Suarez, Adams had even announced that he would receive his salary in BTC.

The well-known crypto influencer, Anthony Pompliano, also commented on the event, stating that we were witnessing a public competition among politicians to adopt Bitcoin more quickly.
