Thailand Launches Tourist Crypto Wallet to Spend Crypto in Baht

Thailand has just announced a new program called TouristDigiPay, set to launch on August 18, 2025.

It is designed to let foreign visitors convert cryptocurrency into Thai baht and spend it across hotels, shops, and restaurants through QR code payments.

On paper, this looks like a major step for crypto adoption in Southeast Asia. But when you dig deeper, the system comes with a long list of restrictions. For travelers who value privacy and flexibility, a no KYC crypto wallet may still be the better choice to spend crypto.

How TouristDigiPay Helps Travelers Spend Cryptocurrency

Tourists will be able to deposit crypto with regulated digital asset providers. Those funds are converted into Thai baht and stored in a Tourist Wallet, which works like an e-money app. From there, you can pay at merchants through QR code scanning.

To use the service, you must:

  • Complete stringent KYC identity checks with passport and verification documents.
  • Accept spending caps of 500,000 THB per month at large merchants with card terminals and 50,000 THB at small merchants.
  • Agree to no cash withdrawals, unless you fully close the account.
  • Be a foreign tourist on a temporary stay in Thailand.

The Tourist Wallet will start as an e-money platform for currency conversion, with plans to eventually connect it directly to foreign debit and credit cards.

Alternatives to TouristDigiPay

Instead of signing up for TouristDigiPay, travelers can use a no KYC crypto wallet. These wallets and exchanges allow you to:

  • Buy crypto instantly without handing over personal KYC documents.
  • Stay private, since no central authority links your identity to your wallet.
  • Skip spending caps, giving you complete control over how much you spend.

TouristDigiPay is about convenience within the limits of regulation. A no KYC mobile crypto wallet is about freedom, privacy, and keeping your funds under your own control.

Best No KYC Crypto Wallet to Spend Crypto

Thailand’s TouristDigiPay is a government-approved step toward mainstream crypto usage, but it comes with trade-offs: KYC, spending caps, and limited freedom.

If you value privacy and flexibility, no KYC mobile crypto wallets such as Best Wallet remain the smarter choice for travelers who want full freedom to spend crypto anytime, anywhere, without jumping through the hoops of identity verification.

Already endorsed by leading publications, including the New York Post and Money, Best Wallet offers an intuitive yet feature-packed facility where users not only enjoy full self-custody but can also trade and spend crypto with ease.

Unlike TouristDigiPay which requires KYC, Best Wallet enables users to maximize their assets freely without submitting any personal details. However, the fact that it does not mandate identity verification doesn’t mean security is left to chance. In addition to giving users full control over their assets, Best Wallet has also integrated cutting-edge features like Fireblocks for maximum security.

Another major advantage is its DEX-like model, which provides practical trading features with minimal fees, fast execution speeds, and deep liquidity. It integrates reliable on-ramp providers to help users buy crypto using fiat, while also featuring a bridge aggregator for swift in-app swaps.

The portfolio management tool is particularly appealing, as it empowers users to trade, manage, and more notably, spend crypto seamlessly in a single unified app. Other key attractions, such as its token launchpad and staking perks, further enhance the overall user experience.

Meanwhile, as part of its commitment to staying ahead of market trends, Best Wallet has been steadily rolling out meaningful upgrades. Just recently, it made headlines with the release of its version 2.10 update, expanding its multichain capabilities by adding Solana.

Another element introduced in the update is the Best Wallet Points, a system designed to track and incentivize user engagement within the facility. And with standout features like Best Card and Best Pay still on the pipeline, Best Wallet is shaping up to become a go-to hub for all things crypto.
