Together AI partners with Hypertec and 5C Group to launch a significant AI infrastructure expansion in Europe, addressing growing demand for sovereign AI capabilities.
Together AI has announced a substantial expansion into the European market through a strategic partnership with Hypertec and 5C Group, aimed at bolstering AI infrastructure across the continent. This initiative will involve the deployment of nearly 100,000 GPUs, marking a significant step in meeting the growing demand for sovereign AI infrastructure in Europe.
Infrastructure and Regional Development
The partnership with Hypertec, a leader in sustainable AI infrastructure, and 5C Group, known for building next-generation AI data centers, will result in a large-scale deployment across Europe. This deployment is set to begin in late 2025 and continue through 2028, focusing on countries like France, the UK, Italy, and Portugal. The project will see investments exceeding $5 billion, providing up to 2 gigawatts of AI-dedicated data center capacity.
James Barker has been appointed as VP of EMEA to oversee the expansion, bringing significant experience in scaling technology platforms. This move follows Together AI’s acquisition of CodeSandbox, enhancing its engineering and research capabilities in Amsterdam.
Advancing Open-Source AI
The infrastructure aims to support open-source AI innovation, with capabilities for model training and inference workloads. The platform will support over 200 open-source models, including DeepSeek and Llama, facilitating developers and researchers in harnessing frontier models with enhanced control over performance and compliance.
Vipul Ved Prakash, CEO of Together AI, emphasized the importance of this development, stating that it allows European enterprises and researchers to leverage open-source and custom models while maintaining data sovereignty and compliance with EU regulations.
Sustainability and Compliance
Together AI’s infrastructure will be optimized for EU regulatory standards, ensuring data sovereignty and digital privacy. The partnership leverages Hypertec and 5C Group’s expertise in sustainable data centers, aiming to deliver high-performance AI computing with minimal environmental impact.
According to Jonathan Ahdoot, CEO of 5C Group, this initiative brings unmatched performance and reliability to Europe, addressing local needs for digital sovereignty and sustainability.
Timeline and Community Engagement
Initial deployments are scheduled to go live throughout the current year, with ongoing collaboration with European enterprises, research institutions, and the developer community to tailor the platform to regional needs. Together AI invites developers and enterprises to explore deployment options through their platform, which offers GPU clusters, serverless inference APIs, and dedicated endpoints.
