A request by Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF), the disgraced founder of FTX, to postpone his sentencing date in the United States by four to six weeks next year has been rejected by a US judge.
“The defendant already has been granted one extension for the filing of sentencing submissions,” he declared.
US Judge Denies SBF Request to Push Back Sentencing
According to a recent court filing, US district court judge Lewis Kaplan denied the request based on the grounds that SBF has already had adequate time to prepare for the sentencing date.
“The defendant’s application, dated December 20, 2023, to adjourn the sentencing date and to postpone the dates for the first and second disclosures of the PSR is denied.”
The filing explains that SBF requests more time to “collect materials necessary” for the sentencing date on March 11, 2024.
SBF’s lawyers argue he should not undergo the sentencing process for the conviction counts or the presentence interview until resolving all severed fraud counts.

SBF Has Been Providing Crypto Tips To Prison Guards
Meanwhile, reports have been circulating that SBF has been providing crypto tips to prison guards. Since August, SBF has been in prison, undergoing trial after a period of house arrest.
On November 24, BeInCrypto reported that SBF has now obtained his “desired Adderall dosage.” He is also using mackerel fish as a form of currency and is being provided with his preferred vegetarian food.
This follows the jury recently deciding that SBF is guilty of all fraud charges.
On November 3, BeInCrypto reported that all 12 members of the jury rendered a guilty verdict. This was on all seven counts of fraud. This follows the prosecutors alleging that he embezzled $8 billion from the crypto exchange FTX, which collapsed in November 2022.
