An artificial intelligence payment hub operating on the XRP Ledger has processed almost 4.5 million transactions while settling only a small fraction of XRP tokens, according to data from the XRPL AI Hub dashboard maintained by t54 labs.
As of early September, the hub showed 4,491,820 cumulative transactions alongside settlements of 5,836.71 XRP and 4,125.29 RLUSD, Ripple's dollar stablecoin. The figures represent tracked activity on the hub, not all payments across the broader ledger.
Micropayments by Design
Ripple introduced its XRPL AI Starter Kit in June, enabling software agents to make x402 payments for API calls, AI inference, and other digital services. Agents can settle payments in either XRP or RLUSD, allowing frequent transactions involving minimal token amounts.
The hub reported 152 registered merchants and an average of 199,059 payments per day over a seven-day period, with transaction lists showing fractional XRP and RLUSD transfers.
Transaction Volume Versus Token Demand
The distinction between transaction frequency and meaningful XRP acquisition remains significant for evaluating the platform's impact on token economics. Payments settled in RLUSD do not represent purchases of XRP itself.
XRPL transaction fees do consume XRP, with the standard minimum fee set at 10 drops, though fees can increase during periods of network congestion. These fees are destroyed rather than distributed to token holders or validators.
Market observers note that the economic test for sustained XRP adoption lies in measuring settlement volume and whether usage generates continued token demand, factors separate from transaction counts alone.
