The altcoin market cap, including Ethereum, has cleared $1.07 trillion, marking the midpoint of a long-term trading range. The milestone follows Bitcoin's recent rally from $76,000 back above $80,000, which has reinvigorated broader market sentiment and driven capital into alternative cryptocurrencies.
The Crypto Market Fear and Greed Index has remained above 60 since August 20th, signaling sustained bullish conditions. Despite the altcoin market keeping pace with Bitcoin's gains, the altcoin season index stands at only 54—well below the 80-plus threshold typically associated with market extremes, such as the reading recorded in September 2025 ahead of Bitcoin's all-time high.
Technical Indicators Show Strength but Not Extremes
Approximately 70% of altcoins on Binance have moved back above their 200-day moving average, according to crypto analyst Darkfost, indicating sustained bullish momentum across a broad majority of tokens. The altcoin market's open interest relative to Bitcoin's has not yet reached risk levels, as noted by Glassnode, suggesting room for further upside without excessive leverage.
The $1.07 trillion level represents the middle of a long-term range, with the potential high at $1.71 trillion. Clearing this midpoint could mark the beginning of another attempt to reach the upper boundary of that range.
Conditions Support Further Gains
Bitcoin is testing the $82,000 resistance zone. Recent price rallies across the market have driven increased social media discussion and speculation, though heightened leverage remains a factor to monitor as a potential trigger for pullbacks.
Falling Bitcoin dominance paired with rising altcoin market cap would signal meaningful capital rotation into the altcoin sector. Current conditions support further gains for altcoins in the coming weeks, though traditional altseason indicators have not yet confirmed such a shift.
