Apple and Google Expand Crypto Recruitment as Stablecoin Interest Grows

Apple and Google are recruiting senior employees with expertise in stablecoins, tokenized deposits, and blockchain infrastructure, according to recent job listings from both companies.

Apple is seeking a strategist based in New York to help shape Apple Pay products. The role would support Apple Card and Apple Cash, covering credit cards, peer-to-peer transfers, and stored value products. Among preferred qualifications, Apple lists understanding of stablecoins, tokenized deposits, and blockchain technology, along with experience in peer-to-peer payments, credit cards, and international payment systems.

The listing does not indicate that Apple plans to add blockchain or stablecoin technology to its existing products. According to Apple, the position requires "a strategic thinker who can blend analytical rigor with a strong business sense, formulate clear and compelling recommendations, and drive projects forward in a fast-paced, collaborative environment."

Google Cloud is hiring an Industry Principal Architect for Web3 based in Hong Kong. The role would advise customers including blockchain foundations, institutional exchanges, digital asset custodians, financial institutions tokenizing real-world assets, and decentralized application developers.

Google applicants must demonstrate familiarity with stablecoin payment rails, tokenized deposits, custody systems, blockchain validators, zero-knowledge systems, and smart contracts. The position also covers security and compliance with regional virtual asset rules, including requirements from the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and Securities and Futures Commission.

Google already operates blockchain infrastructure and has outlined plans for the Google Cloud Universal Ledger, described as a layer-1 network for wholesale payments and asset tokenization. Google is also listed as a supporter of the Open USD stablecoin project, alongside Coinbase, Visa, Mastercard, Stripe, BlackRock, and Shopify.

Other payment companies are advancing stablecoin adoption. Visa reported that its stablecoin settlement volume exceeded a $20 billion annualized rate, while Mastercard has expanded settlement support for stablecoins including USDC and Ripple's RLUSD.
