Aviva Investors Expands Tokenized Fund Offering on XRP Ledger
Aviva Investors has launched a tokenized share class of its £22 billion Sterling Liquidity Fund on the XRP Ledger, enabling qualified investors to buy and sell shares via digital wallets. The company contributed £50 million to the offering, which provides exposure to high-quality short-term sterling-denominated debt instruments.
The fund, established in 2002, maintains its investment goals of low-risk returns and daily liquidity for investors. Aviva employs a digital-twin model in which tokenized shares are stored on the XRP Ledger while corresponding assets remain off-chain, preserving the fund's risk profile and investor protections.
Building on July Launch
The sterling offering expands Aviva's tokenized fund portfolio following its July launch of tokenized shares in its USD Liquidity Fund. Aviva has now invested over £86 million across both sterling and dollar share classes, positioning the company as one of Europe's largest issuers of tokenized money market funds.
Aviva Investors CEO Mark Versey stated that tokenized funds are expected to enhance efficiency and client results as the partnership with Ripple continues. The company has indicated plans to explore additional tokenized funds but has not announced specific future launches.
Infrastructure and Partnerships
Aviva continues working with custody and tokenization partners to support the offering. Licuido provides tokenization infrastructure, Komainu handles institutional digital asset custody, and BNY Mellon maintains the fund's underlying assets. Ripple has invested in both Licuido and fund technology provider ZILO to develop infrastructure for issuing, managing, and transferring tokenized financial assets.
