Backpack announced a partnership with South Korean financial services firm SK Securities to expand international access to Korean‑listed equities. Under the agreement, eligible non‑resident foreign investors will be able to trade South Korean stocks via the Backpack app.
Partnership details
The collaboration brings together SK Securities’ experience in Korea’s capital markets and Backpack’s global user base, blockchain infrastructure, and digital‑asset custody capabilities. The companies said the partnership will cover stages of the securities lifecycle, including structuring, issuance, custody and distribution, subject to applicable laws and regulations.
Roles of each partner
SK Securities, listed on the Korea Exchange under ticker 001510, will contribute underwriting, issuance and securities distribution capabilities. Backpack will provide the technology infrastructure and international distribution network.
Scope and future opportunities
The initial focus is on Korean‑listed stocks, with tokenized securities and real‑world assets identified as potential areas for further collaboration, though no specific tokenized Korean stocks or launch dates have been announced.
Backpack’s broader strategy
Backpack previously introduced exposure to SK Hynix through a Nasdaq‑listed American Depositary Receipt (ADR) and a Solana‑based token, offering blockchain‑based exposure to the ADR. The new partnership extends Backpack’s efforts to bring traditional financial products to its crypto‑native user base.
Backpack reports serving users in more than 150 countries and regions and processing over $450 billion in trading volume across its business.
