Binance announced it will delist Epic Chain (EPIC) and QuickSwap (QUICK), removing all spot trading pairs for both tokens on October 28. The exchange said the decision followed its most recent reviews, which consider factors including trading volume, development activity, and team commitment.
Both tokens experienced immediate price pressure after the announcement. QUICK fell approximately 10% below its pre-announcement level, trading 6.69% lower roughly 17 minutes after the notice went live. EPIC declined about 9% initially but recovered within the same timeframe, trading 5.61% above its pre-announcement level.
The tokens had spent months under Binance's Monitoring Tag before the delisting decision. QUICK received the label on April 30, while Binance applied the tag to EPIC on May 22. The exchange uses the Monitoring Tag to identify tokens it considers more volatile and risky than other listings, warning that tagged assets may eventually fail its listing criteria.
Delisting Timeline
Binance will execute the delisting across multiple stages:
- October 15: Binance suspends margin borrowing and removes both tokens from its Buy & Sell Crypto service
- October 20: New futures positions cannot be opened, all existing contracts are settled, margin trading positions are closed, and both tokens are removed from Binance Pay
- October 21: Spot Copy Trading delists both pairs and force-sells remaining assets at market price; Simple Earn redeems Flexible and Locked positions
- October 28: Spot trading ends, open orders are removed, and Trading Bots stop running
- October 29: Deposits of both tokens will no longer be credited to accounts
- December 28: Binance stops processing withdrawals
- December 29: Binance may convert leftover balances into stablecoins, though conversion is not guaranteed
The schedule provides traders 6 days to close leveraged positions and 2 weeks to exit spot holdings before trading ceases.
Pattern in Binance Delistings
Significant price declines following Binance delisting announcements have been recurring. In August, ICON (ICX) and Secret (SCRT) dropped to fresh all-time lows, declining 12.5% and 18.8% respectively. Earlier that month, PIVX fell 19.27% and Vulcan Forged PYR (PYR) shed 18.31% after separate announcements. Vanar (VANRY) was an exception, trading 8.23% higher despite early losses, similar to EPIC's rebound pattern.
