Binance has expanded the functionality of its bStocks tokenized-equity product by allowing eligible holdings to be used as collateral within Multi-Assets Mode. The feature enables users to retain exposure to tokenized stocks while using a portion of their collateral value to meet futures margin requirements.
Previously, tokenized equities functioned primarily as trading products on the exchange. The collateral designation marks a shift in how these assets operate within user accounts. A holder of an eligible bStock can now maintain the position while Binance recognizes a haircut-adjusted portion of its value for margin calculations.
This integration carries inherent risks. Collateral haircuts can fluctuate based on volatility and account settings, and losses in leveraged futures positions can still threaten the underlying collateral. However, the development represents increased integration between tokenized stocks and Binance's derivatives infrastructure.
Tokenized securities proponents have long argued that these assets can serve functions beyond mirroring conventional asset prices. Collateral use exemplifies this potential, allowing tokenized equities to move beyond static price-tracking instruments toward composable digital assets that function within multiple financial products.
Binance's rollout remains subject to regional eligibility restrictions and KYC requirements, meaning availability varies by jurisdiction. Within eligible accounts, however, bStocks now extend beyond trading into margin utility.
