Binance announced a four-week XRP airdrop campaign beginning September 25 that will distribute $800,000 in XRP tokens to holders of Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin. The campaign runs through October 23, with weekly payouts distributed every Friday.
Expanded Eligibility and Reward Structure
Unlike previous XRP reward initiatives, the new campaign includes users across Spot, Funding, Earn, and Margin accounts. Users must maintain a minimum RLUSD balance of 0.01 to qualify. Binance will calculate rewards using a 7-day average of each user's qualifying balance multiplied by an effective annual percentage rate published weekly.
Binance implemented a 60% haircut for RLUSD acquired through borrowing other stablecoins in Margin accounts. The policy accounts for liabilities from USDT, USDC, U, USD1, and FDUSD positions. Sub-account balances are aggregated at the Master Account level, though Broker accounts receive rewards distributed to virtual sub-accounts.
Hourly balance snapshots determine daily qualifying balances, with each user's reward share based on their holding relative to the total pool. Residents of the United States, United Kingdom, European Union countries, Canada, and other listed jurisdictions are excluded from participation.
RLUSD Market Growth
RLUSD's market capitalization has grown to $2.37 billion, rising from $1.51 billion when Binance initially launched XRP rewards. Ripple recently integrated XRP and RLUSD support for AI agent payments through Stripe and Tempo's Machine Payments Protocol.
XRP Price and Derivatives Activity
XRP traded at $1.51 after declining 6% from its 24-hour high of $1.64. Trading volume decreased 18% over the same period. Total XRP futures open interest fell nearly 9% to $3.60 billion in 24 hours, though 4-hour futures open interest increased 1.26%, with gains of 1.51% on CME and 1.07% on Binance.
