Binance has announced that it is ending round-the-clock trading for its commodity perpetual futures contracts. Beginning September 15 at 21:00 UTC, the exchange will limit these contracts to a 24/5 schedule, aligning them with the weekday hours of traditional commodity markets.
The scheduling adjustment impacts contracts tied to gold, silver, WTI crude oil, Brent crude, natural gas, platinum, palladium, and copper. Meanwhile, crypto perpetuals and equity-based traditional finance perpetuals, such as those tracking Tesla and Intel, will maintain their 24/7 availability.
When Binance initially introduced its traditional finance perpetual contracts in January 2026, they were promoted as offering crypto-native convenience without closing bells or weekends off. Prior to the schedule change, the exchange also altered its commodity pricing mechanism on May 8, 2026, shifting from a fixed mode to an Orderbook Exponentially Weighted Moving Average strategy to handle off-hours pricing tension.
With the shift to a 24/5 schedule, traders holding commodity perpetuals will no longer be able to adjust positions over the weekend. This means events occurring on a Saturday that impact asset prices cannot be traded on the platform until markets reopen.
The update follows previous adjustments to Binance's traditional finance perpetual product line, which was launched eight months ago. While the commodity hours have been restricted to match underlying markets, equity-based perpetuals currently remain on a 24/7 schedule.
