Binance announced a planned infrastructure upgrade scheduled for September 22, 2026, from 06:00 to 09:00 UTC. The world's largest crypto exchange by trading volume provided notice on September 16, 2026, giving users nearly a week to prepare.
The maintenance window is expected to last at least three hours. Spot and futures trading will continue without interruption during this period, as these represent the exchange's primary trading activity.
Services affected and unaffected
Several account functions will be unavailable or may experience intermittent errors during the upgrade window. These include account login, new user registration, two-factor and multi-factor authentication flows, deposits, withdrawals, internal transfers, and payment processing.
Users already logged into active sessions before the maintenance begins may retain access, but those attempting to log in during the window could face temporary lockouts until the upgrade completes.
Binance emphasized that user funds remain secure during the upgrade. Account balances, open positions, and held assets are completely unaffected by the infrastructure work.
Timing and user considerations
The 06:00–09:00 UTC time slot aligns with early European morning hours, typically a lower-activity trading period compared to peak London or New York market overlap windows. The six-day advance notice allows international users across multiple time zones to adjust their transaction schedules accordingly.
The upgrade is classified as a platform-wide system enhancement and is distinct from individual token network upgrades that Binance may coordinate separately, which can temporarily affect deposits and withdrawals for specific assets.
