Cryptocurrency exchange Binance.US is reportedly seeking to raise up to $100 million in a new funding round that could value the platform at $1 billion, according to a Bloomberg report published on Thursday.
The potential $1 billion valuation marks a significant decrease from the $4.5 billion pre-money valuation the US-based crypto exchange achieved in 2022, when it successfully raised $200 million in seed funding. The current private investment effort is aimed at expanding the company's business.
According to the report, Binance.US informed World Liberty Financial—the crypto platform co-founded by US President Donald Trump and his sons—about the funding round, though World Liberty will not be participating. Last year, Binance was involved in a controversial $2 billion investment connecting an entity tied to United Arab Emirates royalty with World Liberty utilizing the USD1 stablecoin.
The proposed funding initiative is part of Binance.US' broader strategy to regain market share from larger competitors following a 2023 legal settlement involving Binance Holdings Ltd. and US authorities. Under that agreement, Binance Holdings agreed to pay $4.3 billion in penalties and accept enhanced monitoring, while former CEO Changpeng Zhao pleaded guilty to a felony charge. Zhao served a four-month prison sentence prior to receiving a pardon from Trump in 2025.
