bitcoin++, the technical conference series for Bitcoin developers, has announced Antarctica: Cold Storage Edition, scheduled for January 24 to February 5, 2028. The event combines a developer conference with an expedition ship voyage, with only 22 spots available.
The event pairs technical discussions with a 13-day, 12-night expedition departing from Ushuaia, Argentina. The ship crosses the Drake Passage and explores the Antarctic Peninsula, with possible stops including Neko Harbour, Paradise Bay, Port Lockroy, and the Lemaire Channel. Attendees may participate in kayaking, camping, hiking, snowshoeing, and Zodiac outings, though the organizers note that weather and ice conditions will determine actual landing sites.
bitcoin++ has held technical conferences, workshops, and hackathons for Bitcoin developers since 2022, with editions in Austin, Berlin, Florianópolis, Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Riga, Istanbul, Taipei, Las Vegas, Vienna, Nairobi, Toronto, and Seoul. Each event carries a distinct theme.
Conference Format and Amenities
The Antarctica edition will follow an unconference format, with attendees proposing talks, demos, and discussions. The ship will have Starlink connectivity and a private room for hackathons and working sessions.
