Bitcoin Crosses Key Moving Average as Bull Market Signals Emerge

Bitcoin has crossed above its 365-day moving average, marking a significant technical milestone. According to a report from data firm CryptoQuant, this crossover represents the first time the cryptocurrency has reclaimed this level since March 2023.

The 365-day moving average has historically served as a cycle-defining indicator in Bitcoin's price history. CryptoQuant noted that this crossover has preceded the start of bull runs in previous market cycles, and the crossing carries substantial weight given its track record rather than representing a routine price bounce.

Bitcoin's recent price movement reflects broader market dynamics. The asset surged in August following a U.S. Treasury announcement regarding expanded liquidity-support buyback operations. After cooling somewhat, Bitcoin's price rose again last week, trading near $86,598 after reaching nearly $87,330 on Monday.

Market conditions appear to be shifting in Bitcoin's favor. Long-term holders appear to have completed their selling positions, potentially opening the way for new investors to enter the market. The asset peaked at $126,080 in October of last year before declining, including following a major liquidation event that saw over $19 billion in bets closed.

Bitcoin's performance has been influenced by broader economic factors. Earlier in the year, rising interest rates and investor focus on artificial intelligence-related stocks pressured the asset. However, recent conditions have rekindled interest in assets that hedge against currency devaluation and government debt.

In August, total U.S. debt topped $40 trillion for the first time. Investors have also shown renewed interest in assets perceived as protection against inflation and deficit spending, alongside other commodities like precious metals that benefit when the dollar weakens.
