Spot Bitcoin ETFs experienced significant outflows on October 22, 2026, withdrawing $635.5 million in a single day—their largest daily outflow since June 2025.
BlackRock's IBIT led the withdrawals with $254.1 million, followed by Fidelity's FBTC at $217.5 million, ARK 21Shares' ARKB at $109.4 million, Grayscale's GBTC at $29.5 million, and Bitwise's BITB at $27.4 million. Morgan Stanley's MSBT recorded a small $2.3 million inflow that provided limited offset to the selling pressure.
The outflows marked a reversal of momentum from the preceding two trading sessions, which had collectively attracted more than $1.05 billion in inflows. According to recent data, Bitcoin ETFs had previously recorded $663 million in inflows, their largest single-day intake in two months.
At press time, Bitcoin was trading at $81,612.79 after a modest drop in the past 24 hours and a decline exceeding 5% over the past month. The $81,000 level has emerged as a significant price point, representing the estimated average cost basis of investors in U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs, according to data from Glassnode. This level typically influences investor behavior and sentiment.
Altcoin ETFs followed a similar pattern on the same day. Ethereum ETFs recorded $110.50 million in outflows, Solana ETF saw $8.51 million in outflows, and Hyperliquid ETF recorded $7.88 million in outflows. The newly launched Zcash ETF recorded $14.23 million in inflows, while the XRP ETF saw $3.55 million in inflows.
In related developments, Switzerland's FINMA approved a physically backed Bitcoin fund, BBIT, for retail investors, with trading expected to begin on the SIX Swiss Exchange in November.
