U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded a combined $324.6 million in net inflows on September 18, according to Farside Investors, reversing some of the heavy redemptions seen earlier in the week.
Fidelity's Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund dominated the session, taking in $310.7 million during the day and accounting for roughly 96% of the group's net inflow. Bitwise's BITB added $9.7 million, ARKB brought in $1.9 million, and VanEck's HODL added $2.3 million. BlackRock's IBIT, normally a significant contributor on strong flow days, recorded no net flow for the session.
Concentrated Demand Across a Single Issuer
The concentration of inflows in a single fund highlights a notable pattern in the ETF market. Friday's gains came overwhelmingly through Fidelity rather than representing broad institutional buying across multiple issuers.
This follows a challenging stretch earlier in the week. The funds recorded a $450.4 million combined outflow on September 15 and another $295.9 million outflow on September 16 before returning to positive territory with $159.5 million on September 17.
Episodic Demand Patterns in the Market
The stop-start pattern of inflows and outflows has become a defining characteristic of the Bitcoin ETF market. Large institutional allocations do not arrive smoothly, with hundreds of millions of dollars potentially moving between issuers across consecutive sessions.
Friday's rebound demonstrates that buyers remained willing to re-enter the market quickly following two particularly weak trading days, though the large concentration through a single fund underscores the episodic nature of institutional demand.
