Spot Bitcoin ETFs and their Ethereum counterparts diverged sharply this week, extending a growing disparity between the two funds.
Bitcoin ETFs finished the week in positive territory despite volatile trading. After two consecutive weeks of net outflows, the funds reversed course on Monday with $526.60 million in inflows, followed by $23.16 million on Tuesday. The momentum strengthened on Wednesday when Bitcoin surged to $85,000 for the first time in two weeks, driving $528.50 million into the funds.
The rally proved short-lived. Thursday saw the largest daily net outflow in four months at $635.49 million, with Friday withdrawals reaching $137.9 million. Despite the pullback, cumulative weekly inflows totaled $304.77 million, bringing total net inflows to approximately $57.2 billion.
Ethereum ETFs tell a starkly different story. The funds have experienced outflows for four consecutive weeks, with $220 million withdrawn this week alone. Monday saw the largest single withdrawal at $103.28 million, followed by $26.13 million on Tuesday. Wednesday provided temporary relief with nearly $15 million in inflows, but Thursday withdrawals of $110.50 million resumed the exodus. Friday recorded only $4.4 million in inflows.
The disparity has widened significantly since late September, when Ethereum ETF inflows peaked near $14 billion. The funds have since experienced more than $1.2 billion in outflows, bringing the total to below $12.75 billion as of Friday's close. Ethereum's price declined over 4% for the week and currently trades near $2,350.
