Bitcoin rose more than $2,000 from its low on Friday, moving back above $78,000 after a sharp drop triggered by the Binance hack. The cryptocurrency’s market capitalization is now around $1.57 trillion, and its dominance on CoinMarketCap remains just under 60%.
Recent price action
During the previous week, Bitcoin traded within a narrow range of $79,000 to $82,000. The asset approached $82,000 several times but was rejected each time. After the Federal Reserve announced no rate change at its FOMC meeting, Bitcoin briefly neared $82,000 again before falling back to about $81,000.
On Friday, a hack at Binance caused Bitcoin to drop to $76,400 within minutes, then recover $2,000 before sliding to a six‑week low of $76,100. The price steadied over the weekend and entered Monday just above $78,000.
Altcoin performance
Ethereum traded near $2,300, and Binance Coin stayed above $710. XRP hovered around the $1.25 support level, while TRON showed a modest 1.7% daily gain.
NEAR Protocol led the declines, falling about 6.3% to $4.13. Other large‑ and mid‑cap assets such as HYPE, Bitcoin Cash, TAO, ENA, AAVE, Avalanche, PUMP, and MORPHO also posted losses.
Market outlook
The total cryptocurrency market capitalization remained stable at roughly $2.61 trillion. Analysts expect increased volatility later in the week as macroeconomic events unfold.
