Bitcoin Holds Steady at $83K as STRK Surges 53% Among Altcoins

Bitcoin has remained relatively stable around $83,000 over the past 36 hours, showing minimal movement as the cryptocurrency market entered a period of quiet trading. The primary cryptocurrency's market cap sits at $1.660 trillion, with its dominance over altcoins at 59.5%.

The price stability follows a volatile October. Bitcoin started the month with strength, reaching over $87,000 on October 2 before encountering selling pressure that drove it below $84,000 the same day. After recovering to $85,000 later that week, the asset attempted another breakout to $86,600 on Monday but faced resistance. A sustained decline followed, with bitcoin falling to $83,600, then $82,400 by Wednesday, and reaching a multi-week low of $80,400 on Thursday before rebounding to around $83,500 on Friday.

Larger-cap altcoins have shown little directional movement. Ethereum trades near $2,500, XRP has dipped below $1.40, while most major assets including BNB, SOL, and DOGE are slightly lower.

Mid-cap altcoins have demonstrated more volatility. STRK led the market with a 53% surge over 24 hours, trading near $0.11 and up over 105% for the week. TIA and AERO also posted double-digit gains of 21% and 15% respectively, trading around $0.60 and $1.00.

The total cryptocurrency market cap stands at $2.8 trillion.
