BitFuFu, a Bitcoin miner and cloud-mining provider, reported August production of 174 BTC, up 55.4% from July's 112 BTC, according to an unaudited operating update released September 3. The production increase reflects the startup of additional mining capacity purchased in prior months.
Cloud-mining customers accounted for the majority of the growth. Cloud production rose to 86 BTC in August from 40 BTC in July, contributing 46 BTC of the total 62 BTC increase. The company's self-mining operation added the remaining 16 BTC, rising from 72 to 88 BTC.
BitFuFu's managed hashrate—a measure of mining computing capacity—reached 20.6 EH/s at the end of August, compared with 14.2 EH/s in July, reflecting the full-month impact of capacity secured in June and July.
The company's Bitcoin holdings increased by 59 BTC to 1,373 BTC in August, a partial recovery from July's balance. However, August holdings remain 298 BTC below June's 1,671 BTC. In July, BitFuFu attributed the monthly decline to advance payments for hashrate capacity with a 330-day duration. The 1,373 BTC balance includes 44 BTC pledged for loans and miner procurement payables.
The company did not disclose profit figures or payback metrics for the added capacity in its August update. Shareholders received a larger operating platform and higher self-mining output, but lack financial details on whether the expanded capacity will generate returns that justify the Bitcoin invested.
