Bitcoin Miners Report Mixed September Results as CleanSpark Ends Monthly Updates

Bitcoin mining operators reported divergent production trends in September, with CleanSpark reducing output while advancing major infrastructure investments and shifting its reporting schedule.

CleanSpark Production Declines

CleanSpark mined 529 Bitcoin in September, down from 593 BTC in August, representing an 11% decline. The company finished the month with 13,530 BTC in holdings, compared with 13,703 at the end of August.

CleanSpark sold 702 BTC during September, including 2 BTC on spot markets and 700 through exercised call options at an average sale price of $72,928 including option premiums. The company reported average daily production of 17.64 BTC from 50 exahashes per second in operational computing power and nearly 200,000 deployed mining machines.

The miner announced it will transition from monthly to quarterly reporting of production metrics.

Major Data Center Financing Closed

CleanSpark closed a $2.276 billion secured bond offering to fund data center construction in Sandersville, Georgia. The company expects the resulting data center lease to generate approximately $6.6 billion during its initial term.

BitFuFu Faces Lower Output and Operational Challenges

BitFuFu produced 167 BTC in September, down from 174 BTC in August. The company's own mining increased from 88 to 98 BTC, but customer cloud mining output fell from 86 to 69 BTC. Total managed computing power dropped to 19.4 exahashes per second.

An electricity dispute has prevented completion of BitFuFu's proposed mining acquisition in Ethiopia. The company has already paid $4.1 million and deployed approximately 13,700 machines at the site.

Canaan Maintains Production, Expands Heat Recovery

Canaan mined 44 BTC in September, matching the previous month's output. The company ended September holding 1,875 BTC, up from 1,868 in August.

Canaan's eight-megawatt Nordic heating facility now supplies recovered mining heat to approximately 2,800 homes. The company is preparing a similar heat-recovery project for Canadian greenhouses, pending final site inspections.

Market Performance

Mining stocks declined during the period. CleanSpark traded at $8.76, BitFuFu at $1.27, and Canaan at $0.25 as several rival miners fell more than 12% during a wider stock market selloff.
