Bitcoin exchange outflows have reached levels not seen in years, with Binance reserves falling by approximately 40,000 BTC over 15 days, valued at roughly $3.3 billion. The cryptocurrency remains consolidated around $85,000.
Outflows Hit Three-Year Highs
Last week, 23,100 BTC left Binance in net outflows, marking the strongest weekly withdrawal since June 2023. That represents approximately $1.4 billion worth of Bitcoin removed from the exchange in a single week. In the latest daily reading, nearly 14,300 BTC departed Binance, exceeding the previous week's outflow of $13,800 BTC.
Binance reserves have declined from 704,800 BTC on September 20 to 663,100 BTC—a substantial reduction in available exchange-held supply over just 15 days.
Accumulation Patterns and Market Behavior
Exchange outflows are often monitored for insights into market behavior. Large withdrawals of Bitcoin from widely accessible exchanges can indicate accumulation and longer-term holding behavior by investors.
The current outflow pattern resembles a period in 2023 when Bitcoin was attempting to recover from its bear market. However, exchange outflows alone do not guarantee price movements.
Reduced Supply and Support Levels
The shift of $3.3 billion in Bitcoin supply away from exchanges, combined with reduced exchange-held Bitcoin and continued withdrawals, could create conditions that support a move out of the current consolidation range. Analysts note that fading seller pressure may contribute to this dynamic.
