Bitcoin is trading below $84,000 after failing to sustain its latest advance toward the $90,000 region. While the broader price structure remains constructive, a recent pullback and weakening futures activity suggest the market may consolidate before attempting another breakout.
Daily Chart Analysis
The daily timeframe shows structural improvement over recent months. Bitcoin has reclaimed both the 100-day and 200-day moving averages, positioned around $72,000, with the shorter-term average turning higher in a bullish crossover signal.
The price has moved decisively above the $75,000 level, which now serves as important support. Maintaining this area would preserve the sequence of higher lows and keep the broader recovery intact. A deeper correction toward $70,000 would weaken the setup considerably.
On the upside, Bitcoin faces a substantial supply zone around $88,000, where the market has repeatedly struggled to close above. A convincing breakout would expose the next major resistance near $96,000.
Daily momentum remains positive but has cooled. The relative strength index sits above the neutral 50 level with considerable room before reaching overbought territory, suggesting the market has not yet displayed exhaustion typical of a major top.
Short-Term Picture
The 4-hour chart presents a more cautious outlook. Bitcoin established an ascending triangle from September lows but is now breaking below that trendline and has fallen toward $84,000.
The $84,000 area is critical in the near term. If buyers reclaim this zone and restore the broken trendline, the decline could be temporary. Bitcoin could then retest $88,000 and potentially challenge for a breakout.
A sustained break below $84,000 would increase the probability of a deeper correction toward the $75,000-$78,000 region, which coincides with the previous breakout and represents the first major support beneath the current range.
The 4-hour RSI has fallen to around 38, indicating deteriorated short-term momentum approaching oversold territory. This could allow for a relief bounce, though RSI alone does not confirm a reversal.
Futures Market Signals
The taker buy/sell ratio has dropped below 1 to around 0.994, declining significantly from September highs. This indicates weakening aggressive buying pressure as Bitcoin approached $88,000 resistance.
More notably, the taker buy/sell ratio has trended lower since August despite Bitcoin remaining relatively elevated. This divergence suggests the latest price advance has not been accompanied by steadily increasing aggressive futures demand.
While this does not necessarily signal an immediate bearish reversal, a clean breakout above $88,000 would be less convincing unless the metric recovers above 1. A combination of renewed taker buying alongside a price breakout would provide stronger confirmation that buyers are regaining control.
