Bitcoin spiked above $86,000 on Monday following Wall Street's open as US stocks rose amid cooling oil prices. TradingView data showed Bitcoin reaching $86,332 on Bitstamp, up 5.7% for the day and marking a new 33-week high.
The gains built on Sunday's weekly close at $81,120, Bitcoin's highest level since early May. Oil prices contributed to the momentum, with signals from Qatar's Foreign Ministry and US President Donald Trump regarding potential diplomatic negotiations to end the US-Iran conflict helping to push WTI crude oil as low as $91.59 per barrel. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite Index rose 1% and 1.6%, respectively.
Market analysts offered differing perspectives on the rally's durability. Trading resource The Kobeissi Letter described crypto as entering a "new bull market," noting 50% gains for BTC/USD over two months alongside crypto short liquidations nearing $800 million over 24 hours.
Bitfinex Alpha, the research division of crypto exchange Bitfinex, identified buyer support, rising open interest, and fresh capital inflows to US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds as key requirements for sustained price gains. The firm cautioned that "a daily close beneath $77,100 invalidates the structure to the downside."
Crypto trader Rekt Capital confirmed that Bitcoin had broken out of a cycle of lower highs established since October 2025 and exited its prior macro downtrend. He identified a new target trading range between $86,681 and $93,659.
