Bitcoin's social sentiment has shifted bearish following the US midterm elections, while gold and silver have regained strength, creating a notable divergence across financial markets. The crypto market had already been under pressure since the $6.3 billion Binance hack, and the elections added another layer of uncertainty.
Bitcoin Sentiment Deteriorates
Santiment's social sentiment data shows the bullish-to-bearish commentary ratio has declined considerably over the past two weeks. The ratio stood at approximately 1.8—nearly two bullish comments for every bearish one—before dropping to 0.37 as the market weakened, indicating that bearish commentary had substantially increased and overtaken bullish discussions.
BTC Attempts Short-Term Stabilization
Bitcoin's daily chart shows a recovery toward $78,400 after testing a crucial support zone between $75,000 and $75,700, where buyers stepped in. The immediate resistance stands near $81,818, a level bulls need to reclaim to strengthen the recovery outlook.
The RSI has been forming consecutive lower highs and lows, while a recent divergence from the lows raises some hopes. However, the CMF remains marginally below the zero line, suggesting buying pressure has not yet strengthened sufficiently to confirm meaningful capital accumulation. For bullish momentum to continue, BTC needs to break the newly formed barrier at $78,740; another rejection could drag the price back below $76,000.
Gold and Silver Strengthen as Dollar Weakens
Gold climbed back above $4,000 with a rise of more than 4%, while silver surged to $51.67 with a jump of 3.8%. The gains came as the US dollar weakened and Treasury yields declined following the Democratic win in the midterm elections.
Upcoming US employment data and fresh signals on the Federal Reserve's interest-rate outlook are the next important catalysts. Whether gold can sustain its position above $4,000 and silver can extend its gains will be important to watch as markets digest the election outcome.
Outlook
Bitcoin continues to face bearish retail sentiment despite recovering from the $75,000 support zone. While RSI signals improving momentum, the negative CMF reading suggests buying pressure remains weak. A breakout above $81,818 could strengthen the recovery outlook, whereas a breakdown below support may expose BTC to further losses. Meanwhile, gold and silver are gaining strength amid a weaker US dollar, declining Treasury yields, and post-election uncertainty. Their contrasting performance highlights changing market sentiment, although it does not confirm a direct shift of capital away from crypto.
