Bitcoin Surges Past $77,000 While Ether ETFs Face Third Day of Outflows

U.S. spot ether exchange-traded funds posted approximately $39 million in net outflows on Thursday, continuing a three-day streak of withdrawals that included $224 million on Wednesday and $141 million on Tuesday. Despite the fund outflows, ether itself rose 2% to approximately $2,470 over the period.

Bitcoin ETFs showed stronger momentum, attracting roughly $159 million in inflows. XRP funds lost about $5 million after a small inflow the previous day. Over the past 30 days, ether ETFs remain more than $1.5 billion ahead in cumulative inflows, while bitcoin funds are nearly $2.5 billion ahead.

Zcash led the major cryptocurrencies with a 10% gain to approximately $1,488. Its sole U.S. fund added nearly $47 million Thursday, bringing monthly inflows to more than $230 million. Other major cryptocurrencies also posted gains: hyperliquid's HYPE rose nearly 10% to just above $86, Solana gained 5% to nearly $105, and BNB climbed nearly 4% to about $750. Dogecoin rose about 4%, while ether and XRP each gained 2%. Bitcoin advanced more than 1% to approximately $77,216. Tron was the only major cryptocurrency that remained essentially flat.

The cryptocurrency market moved in tandem with traditional markets Thursday. Equities rallied as falling oil prices eased inflation concerns one day after the Federal Reserve raised interest rates for the first time since 2023. The S&P 500 gained about 1% for its largest advance in six weeks, the Nasdaq 100 rose nearly 2%, and semiconductor stocks climbed 3%.

In other markets, the 10-year Treasury yield fell, ending an eight-day rising streak, while the dollar was little changed. Gold increased in value and Brent crude settled below $105 per barrel.
