Bitcoin Surges Past $80,000 Following Strong Nvidia Earnings

Bitcoin regained the $80,000 level on Thursday, reaching an intraday peak of $80,808 following strong quarterly results from chipmaker Nvidia.

Nvidia reported second-quarter revenue totaling $96.2 billion, surpassing Wall Street projections by approximately $4 billion. The company's shares rose over 9% during Thursday's trading session, increasing its market capitalization by more than $400 billion within hours. The technology sector's rally boosted the Nasdaq Composite index by 1% and triggered corresponding gains across cryptocurrency markets.

ETF Inflows Reach Highest Levels Since October 2025

Spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds in the United States maintained positive net inflows for nine consecutive trading days. August 27 alone saw $242 million in fresh capital. The cumulative inflows during this streak total $3.51 billion, representing the strongest performance since October 2025. BlackRock's IBIT product has dominated these inflows.

Bitcoin's Coinbase Premium metric turned positive for the first time since May, indicating that BTC is commanding a premium on Coinbase compared to Binance. This suggests heightened buying interest from American market participants.

Technical Levels and Market Catalysts

Market analysts noted that Bitcoin has recaptured the 200-week exponential moving average and is currently testing its $83,000 resistance zone. The 50-week simple moving average currently rests around $81,000.

Cryptocurrency liquidations totaled approximately $417 million during the past 24 hours, with concentrated selling pressure positioned between current price levels and $86,000.

Financial markets are also monitoring Fed Chair Kevin Warsh's keynote presentation at the Jackson Hole economic symposium scheduled for Friday, with economists characterizing the speech as significant given recent increases in long-term interest rates and ongoing inflation uncertainty.
