On-chain data presents conflicting signals about market direction. Bitcoin's 1-year active supply recently reached a low of 7.49 million, suggesting that fewer bitcoins are being moved from wallets. A decline to this level typically indicates strong investor commitment to holding, often driven by expectations of future price appreciation.
Exchange reserves also fell after reaching a local peak of 2.73 million on August 17th, dropping to 2.70 million. Lower bitcoin balances on exchanges mean less cryptocurrency is available for immediate sale, which could provide some price support.
Sell Pressure Raises Concerns
However, significant headwinds remain. Between August 23rd and September 1st, sellers offloaded approximately $1.2 billion worth of bitcoin, averaging about $120 million in daily sales. Bitcoin's apparent demand also turned negative over the last 24 hours, signaling ongoing distribution.
Additionally, roughly 127,940 bitcoins exited exchanges during this period, pointing to weaker demand and increasing available supply pressure.

The $76,000 level remains critical for bitcoin's near-term direction. This price point could determine whether the market sustains its recent gains or experiences another decline. For now, sellers are using the recent rally to take profits, and the market has not confirmed a sustained bull run.
