Cryptocurrency exchange BitMart has announced that it is developing a potential restructuring plan as an alternative to a complete wind-down of its operations. The update follows discussions with users, stakeholders, and advisers.
According to the exchange, the proposed plan could potentially allow certain services to return in stages while creditors receive distributions. However, the initiative still requires legal, financial, operational, and regulatory review.
Restructuring Counsel and Timeline
To assist with the process, BitMart has retained White & Case as its restructuring counsel. The firm will collaborate with other advisers to evaluate available options and develop a framework for restarting parts of the business.
BitMart stated that a roadmap is currently being formulated, with another update expected to be shared by September 9, 2026.
User Concerns and Withdrawal Status
Despite the restructuring announcement, user concerns remain focused on asset recovery and withdrawals. BitMart's latest communication did not confirm that withdrawals have fully resumed, leaving users seeking clear details regarding customer assets, available reserves, fund locations, and access timelines.
Previously, BitMart announced an orderly wind-down on July 26, which included halting new registrations and deposits. That shutdown plan remains in place for now. Retail users have been asked to submit their crypto withdrawal requests by August 26, 2026. Unless the restructuring plan alters the current trajectory, the final platform closure is scheduled for January 31, 2027.
