Bitwise has launched Automated Token Portfolios (ATPs), a new product enabling eligible non-U.S. investors to hold and automatically manage baskets of tokenized stocks directly in their own wallets. The offering integrates Bitwise portfolio design, underlying tokenized stocks from Coinbase, and execution through Glider automation.
According to Bitwise Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan, investors sign up to replicate a strategy designed by an institutional investment firm while retaining custody of the assets in their personal wallets. Glider adjusts the portfolio without taking control of the assets.
Initial Portfolio Offerings
Bitwise is rolling out three initial portfolios targeting specific thematic areas:
- Mag7X ATP: Provides equal-weighted exposure to Apple, Microsoft, Nvidia, Alphabet, Amazon, Meta, Tesla, and SpaceX.
- Robotics ATP: Focuses on companies developing humanoid robots, autonomous vehicles, and warehouse automation, including Tesla, Nvidia, and Amazon.
- AI Leaders ATP: Includes Nvidia, Microsoft, Alphabet, Meta, Amazon, SpaceX, Tesla, and Sandisk.
Flexibility and Custody Compared to ETFs
The company noted that the tokenized format provides greater flexibility than a conventional exchange-traded fund (ETF). Traditional funds often require holding a large number of stocks and can take months to launch, whereas the tokenized structure allows for more precise and responsive strategies.
Unlike traditional ETFs where investors own shares in a pooled vehicle, ATP users hold individual tokenized stocks directly. The setup also utilizes 24/7 trading capabilities, with potential for lending and margin use where available, marking a shift from bringing crypto into traditional finance to bringing institutional portfolio construction into crypto-native wallets.
