Bitwise's Solana staking exchange-traded fund (ETF), trading under ticker BSOL, has surpassed $1 billion in assets under management exactly 10 months after its launch. The milestone places Solana alongside Bitcoin and Ether as one of only three cryptocurrencies with ETF products exceeding $1 billion in assets.
The fund's growth occurred primarily during a challenging period for digital assets, with most of the roughly $1 billion in inflows arriving during a bear market. Across all U.S. Solana ETFs, total assets now stand at approximately $1.43 billion, representing about 2.35% of SOL's market capitalization.
According to Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas, the broader Solana ETF category has attracted roughly $1.7 billion in cumulative flows with minimal evidence of sustained withdrawals despite earlier market downturns. Bitwise CEO Hunter Horsley emphasized that reaching $1 billion in ETF assets matters because scale can deepen liquidity, attract larger institutional allocators, and simplify access through conventional brokerage accounts.
Solana's recovery has accelerated alongside the ETF milestone. SOL climbed approximately 46% in August and trades roughly 80% above its June low, with the token moving above $100 and pushing its market capitalization above $60 billion.
Institutional access to Solana is expanding beyond ETFs. Charles Schwab announced plans to add spot trading for Solana, Avalanche, and Chainlink to Schwab Crypto in the coming months. The brokerage oversees more than $12 trillion in client assets across approximately 39 million accounts.
The combination of direct brokerage access and growing ETF assets may strengthen Solana's position among traditional investors seeking exposure without managing tokens or wallets directly.
