Block, the NYSE-listed payments company led by Jack Dorsey, announced Thursday the launch of an advertising campaign to promote Bitcoin as a medium of exchange for everyday transactions.
The campaign features advertisements depicting everyday Americans discussing cost-of-living concerns and other economic grievances, with the tagline "Some things don't make sense. Bitcoin does." The ads will run across YouTube, X, Meta, Instagram, television via Fox Sports, and select movie theater screenings through December 31.
"At Block, we're focused on building financial products that make everyday life easier," said Miles Suter, Bitcoin Lead at Block. "This campaign is our first major illustration of what a Bitcoin-centric financial system could look like, and we're excited to show how it can make a meaningful difference in people's lives."
Block has integrated Bitcoin into its financial products, allowing users to buy, sell, and transfer Bitcoin through its Cash App service. The company also accepts Bitcoin payments through the Lightning Network at point-of-sale terminals via Square. Last year, Block unveiled a Bitcoin mining rig with swappable components designed to reduce repair and replacement costs for miners.
Dorsey departed Twitter in 2021 to focus on payments and Bitcoin adoption, stating his goal of establishing Bitcoin as a global currency.
