Blur NFT Marketplace Shuts Down Frontend on November 12 as BLUR Token Crashes

Blur announced on October 12, 2026, that blur.io will permanently shut down its frontend on November 12, 2026. The BLUR token fell following the announcement, sliding to around $0.015 from earlier levels.

The closure applies only to the web interface. The on-chain marketplace protocol will remain live, and BLUR will continue to govern the protocol's fee switch. For most retail users, however, the practical product will be unavailable after the deadline.

Alongside the frontend shutdown, Blend, Blur's peer-to-peer NFT lending protocol, will stop matching new loans on November 12. Borrowers must repay outstanding loans by that date or allow them to default. After the deadline, Blur will provide a tool for users to withdraw assets from Blend.

Blur's monthly trading volume peaked at approximately $1.43 billion in March 2023. By March 2026, that figure had fallen below $7 million, representing a decline of more than 99%. The platform once attracted users through zero marketplace fees and pro-trader tools, but could not maintain volume after its points-and-airdrop incentive programs ended.

Security researchers have urged holders to revoke old smart-contract approvals, noting that millions of dollars in NFT approvals remain on upgradeable contracts. Blur also warned users to beware of impersonators and to treat only the verified @blur_io account on X as authoritative.

This shutdown is linked to founder Tieshun "Pacman" Roquerre, who was also involved with Blast, an Ethereum Layer 2 that announced an October 26 withdrawal deadline after determining operating costs had exceeded revenue.
