Federal prosecutors have charged a former California postal worker with failing to deliver thousands of pieces of customer mail.
Ronald Juckno, 53, of Fresno was arrested after an indictment accused him of keeping more than 8,500 items meant for his route, says the U.S. Department of Justice.
Court records say investigators found the cache in his possession between August and September of 2024.
The undelivered pile included California Employment Development Department correspondence, financial records, insurance files, medical letters, tax documents and utility bills.
Postal managers placed him on leave once the stockpile came to light, and he resigned from the carrier job soon afterward.
He faces up to five years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted.
The U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General led the investigation.
