Federal prosecutors have charged Daejon Labrayae Delenar Love, 35, of Sacramento County, California, with conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Love allegedly posed as a San Francisco 49ers player or real estate investor to solicit victims for fraudulent high-yield investment schemes, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Oregon.
Love made his initial appearance in federal court in Portland, Oregon on Tuesday. Prosecutors allege that Love and a co-conspirator created fabricated dating and social media profiles to build trust with victims before promoting investment opportunities that promised unusually large returns.
According to the indictment, Love developed romantic relationships with victims through these fake profiles and staged displays of wealth to persuade them to send cash or wire funds. The funds were not invested as promised. Instead, they covered personal expenses including travel, vehicles, clothing, and jewelry.
Love pleaded not guilty and remains detained pending trial. His jury trial is scheduled to begin December 15th, 2026.
If convicted, Love faces up to 20 years in prison, three years of supervised release, a $250,000 fine, and forfeiture of property obtained through the scheme. The FBI conducted the investigation, with prosecutors handling the case in the District of Oregon.
