Charles Hoskinson, founder of Cardano, recently recorded a video addressing the Lindsay Clancy murder trial, a case that has drawn significant public attention. Rather than discussing Cardano or cryptocurrency matters, Hoskinson used the platform to comment on the controversial case.
Lindsay Clancy, 36, admitted to strangling her three children at her home in Duxbury, Massachusetts in 2023. The youngest victim was eight months old. Her legal defense did not dispute that she committed the killings but instead argued that postpartum psychosis, a rare and severe mental illness that can follow childbirth, left her not criminally responsible.
A jury deliberated for seven days before becoming deadlocked at 11 to 1. Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial on September 4. According to Clancy's lawyer, a single juror stood between her and acquittal, though the court did not confirm which direction the other eleven jurors leaned.
In his video commentary, Hoskinson argued against accepting postpartum psychosis as a defense. He stated that Clancy "should be dead" and called for his audience to challenge his position. He also noted that the children's father, Patrick Clancy, has publicly asked for forgiveness toward his wife.
Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz has not announced whether he will pursue a retrial. Clancy is scheduled to return to court on September 29.
